Originally from Malta with mixed Maltese/New Zealand parentage, Marama Corlett began her career as a professional ballet dancer gaining a three-year scholarship in London before transitioning to acting. She has since starred in a wide array of roles across theatre, TV and film as she developed her career and cleverly honed her craft with a classic approach to choosing roles that extend her artistry at every turn.

Being recognised as offering something fresh and intense to the acting world, Marama scored her first feature film very early into her career in 2012 - featuring in 'The Devil's Double' directed by New Zealand Director Lee Tamahori and starring Dominic Cooper. She quickly followed that up by landing a role in London’s West End production of 'The Children's Hour' directed by celebrated theatre director Ian Rickson (Jerusalem), opposite Ellen Burstyn, Keira Knightley and Elizabeth Moss. In 2014 Marama was cast as one of the lead roles playing Betty Parris in the production of 'The Crucible' at The Old Vic Theatre with Richard Armitage.

Feature film credits also include; 'Desert Dancer' alongside Freida Pinto, 'Maleficent' with Angelina Jolie , ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ for Marvel and 'The Goob' alongside Sean Harris.

Marama continued to show her diverse talent playing series regular Rina, in the television drama 'Sinbad' for Sky Atlantic and on SyFy in the United States. Other US credits include;

More recently in the UK, she has starred in

BBC2’s ‘The City and the City’ with David Morrissey, season’s 1&2 of ‘Sick Note' for Sky One playing series regular Linda, alongside Rupert Grint and Nick Frost. In 2019 and early 2020 we saw Marama Corlett grace our screens on SKY ONE in the second season of series SICK OF IT with British Comedian/Actor Karl Pilkington and guest starring in BBC/ HBO’s ‘His Dark Materials’, with season 2 just out.

She has also starred in promo videos for two of the UK’s biggest indie music acts. First in The Libertines 2018 short for ‘Y ou’re My Waterloo’ and then in Suede’s clip for ‘The Invisibles’ in the same year.

Marama’s most recent role is a lead in the forthcoming (early 2021) Terry Pratchett Discworld novels inspired ‘The Watch’. Filmed in Cape Town in late 2019 and early 2020 – pre-lockdown - Corlett plays bad-ass law enforcement officer Angua in BBC AMERICA’s gloriously exciting fantasy series, based on the story of Ankh- Morpork's City Watch. Sure to be a break out role for this fiercely intense and captivating young actor, Marama Corlett has shown that she’s as versatile as she is passionate about finding challenging roles that push her into cexciting new areas.
