Founder Bio
Ali McAleavy is a London based mother of 3. After 20 years of working in fashion, she left her job as Head of Buying at Topshop after becoming disillusioned at the growing dominance of fast and disposable fashion.
As a mother of 2 girls and a boy, she felt frustrated at the lack of both non-gendered and sustainable kids footwear, and so decided to create the range of shoes she wanted for her own children. As a footwear specialist, and with access to some of the best factories around the world, she started developing Zig+Star in 2018. She spent over 2 years developing and refining the product in conjunction with a paediatric podiatrist and other UK based specialists, until she perfected a product that combined cool, sustainable design, with great fit and functionality.
